Find My Bloodline
A place for adoptees and biological families to find each other.
How it works
Start with what you know. Even small details can help guide your search.
1. Start with your story
Gather what you know: names, places, approximate dates and family memories. It’s okay to have gaps or uncertain information.
2. Bring the pieces together
Organise documents, photographs and memories to build a clearer picture of your story. Keep confirmed facts separate from details that still need to be checked.
3. Explore possible connections
Look for shared names, places and events that could connect your story with someone else’s. A possible connection is a starting point for further research—not proof of a family relationship.
What can help with a search?
A family search is not always based on one perfect document. Small details can become important clues when they are brought together.
- Names and alternative spellings
- Approximate dates or time periods
- Countries, regions, cities and villages
- Hospitals, churches and institutions
- Adoption agencies, lawyers and intermediaries
- Documents and photographs
- Family memories and personal stories
- Information that may be incorrect or falsified
Privacy and safety
Family searches can involve deeply personal information. Find My Bloodline is being designed so that users can control what is public, what remains private and when contact information is shared.
- Private by design – Sensitive information is not automatically made public.
- You stay in control – You decide what you want to share.
- Possible matches are reviewed – A possible connection is not proof of a family relationship.
Searching across borders
Families may live in different countries, speak different languages and describe the same events in different ways. Find My Bloodline is being developed to make international family searches easier to understand and navigate.
- English
- Svenska
- Português do Brasil
- More languages can be added as the service grows.
Why Find My Bloodline was created
Find My Bloodline was created from lived experience of international adoption, missing information and the long search for biological family. The journey showed how difficult it can be to search when names, dates and documents do not tell the full story.
The goal is to help adoptees and biological families bring together the information they have, organise important clues and discover possible connections across countries and languages.
Every search begins with one clue
